Atomic Bomb Survivor’s Plea for Peace in Gaza
Kikuyo Nakamura was just 21 years old when the atomic bomb was dropped on her home city of Nagasaki by the U.S. in August 1945. Surviving one of the most devastating events in human history, Nakamura has dedicated nearly 80 years to advocating for the elimination of nuclear weapons and the end of wars and conflicts worldwide.
Today, at the age of 99, Nakamura is extending her lifelong plea for peace to the current conflict in Gaza. Witnessing the suffering and destruction inflicted upon the Palestinian people, she is urging for the bombing to cease.
Her voice, forged in the fires of Nagasaki, carries a powerful message: the world must learn from the past and work tirelessly to prevent such horrors from occurring again.. Nakamura’s appeal is a poignant reminder of the universal desire for peace and the shared humanity that binds us all.
Her lifetime of activism underscores the urgent need for global solidarity and action to end the cycle of violence and bring lasting peace to regions in conflict.
